CASE STUDY
Repairing a Cracked Ceramic Tile Floor
THE BEFORE — detail before restoration
The Challenge
The cracked tile was a discontinued pattern, so full replacement would have meant re-tiling a much larger area purely to source a matching batch.
The Process
The crack was structurally repaired and the surface glaze colour-matched, with the surrounding grout refreshed so the repaired tile sat evenly with its neighbours.
THE PROCESS — restoration in progress
The Detail
Colour, grain or veining, texture and finish were all checked against the surrounding surface before the repair was considered complete.
THE DETAIL — matching the surrounding surface
THE AFTER — completed restoration
BEFORE / AFTER
Compare the result.
Result
The floor kept its original pattern intact, avoiding a disruptive and costly re-tile for a single damaged tile.
