Restoring a Damaged Timber Floor — before restoration

The Challenge

The affected boards sat in a high-traffic hallway, so any repair needed to withstand daily wear while matching the surrounding oak's colour, grain direction and years of natural patina.

The Process

The damaged section was cut back, rebuilt and colour-matched board by board, with the grain direction and finish sheen tested against the surrounding floor before final application.

The Detail

Colour, grain or veining, texture and finish were all checked against the surrounding surface before the repair was considered complete.

Result

The repaired boards read as part of the original floor rather than a patch — the goal throughout was a result that disappears rather than one that draws attention to itself.
